Michelle Leslie Studio reimagined a well lived-in and much loved Australian timber hut converting it to a luxurious, self-contained two bedroom guesthouse which beautifully retains the narrative and context of the revered Australian outhouse.
Resurrected as a perfect accomodation offering for guests to enjoy overnight, or for a weekend recovery after a party, or simply as a rural bolthole from the nearby urban pace of Sydney, the renovation is centred around functional pieces sourced for their historical provenance including a cast iron bath and patinated brass tapware.
Skylights were installed in the living room and kitchen to flood the house with natural light and to allow guests poignant vistas of the sky and stars, bringing the outside in.
